Postcard from the Lakes 8th Sept 2023 Welcome to our latest Postcard From the Lakes Read it here: A Postcard from the Lakes - 8th Sept 2023 Header image: 'Castle Crag' by Andrew Locking Welcome to our September Postcard. This month we're very pleased that proposals to build an adventure visitor attraction in a former quarry at Elterwater in the Langdale Valley have been rejected by planners, on grounds of traffic impacts. Watch our video about it here.Following that success, our next big event is our Kirby Lecture on 6 October, which is entitled 'Re-imagining Lakeland's Water: Fresh Ideas for a Sparkling Future'. A panel of experts will be discussing how we can achieve 100% water purity within the next 30 years. It’s in Kendal, tickets are free and you can book here. There's also been a fantastic response to the Roanhead holiday lodge development proposals, with the council receiving more than 3700 submissions. It's not too late to add your voice.Later on in October and November another Cumbria Dark Skies events festival is planned, and, if you like our large scale Fell Care Days, then put the 17 November in your diaries for Buttermere Fell Care Day.
