Welcome to our latest Postcard From the Lakes, and this month we're very concerned about a 450 lodge holiday park planned for Roanhead on the Furness coastline - thank you to everyone who's been sending us photos of it. We're expecting a planning application at the end of April. Lorayne our planning officer visited the site yesterday - watch her video.

We are pleased that the proposed phone mast at Buttermere, which met with objections from local people, visitors, the National Trust and ourselves, was refused this week on grounds of landscape and visual impact.

Our next Great Cumbrian Litter Pick takes place this month on 21-22nd April. More than 600 people took part last year, can we do better this year?

The Westmorland Dales Landscape Forum takes place this year on Saturday 22 April, and looks like being a fun day of walks and talks to find out what the project has been up to, and there's a short survey to answer to help us evaluate the project.

There's been success for our Dark Skies project with the Cliff Terrace lighting scheme winning a design award, and we've planted 20,000 trees at High Borrowdale!

And don't forget you can walk across the Bay for us in our sponsored Morecambe Bay Walk on 30th April, always a brilliant experience!

With our very best wishes,
Friends of the Lake District
