Welcome to our latest Postcard From the Lakes. What a busy week last week was! Our Landscape Engagement Officer Kay had a very busy litter themed week, doing litter picks with Ambleside Primary School and then up Loughrigg with Trash Free Trails. She also was at Kendal Mountain Festival talking litter as part of the Great Cumbrian Litter Pick weekend.

The Cumbria Dark Skies festival saw 1500 people attend dark skies events across the county, and our Dark Skies Officer held a special lights switch off last Thursday evening in Market Square in Kendal, just before the Christmas lights were switched on. Hear Jack talk about it here.

Last week some of the team visited Hardknott Forest, a project doing a great job at restoring native tree to one of the largest conifer plantations in Lake District, whom we've been happy to help with one of our Landscape Grants.

The Wild Ennerdale project was named a National Nature Reserve last week, which is great news. You can read about the successful events of the Westmorland Dales project over recent months, There were new proposals for a car park at Ullock Moss, and the redevelopment of Brandelhow Cottage, and we're very concerned about funding cuts to our National Parks and AONBs.

With our very best wishes,
Friends of the Lake District
