Welcome to our latest Postcard From the Lakes

Welcome to our latest Postcard From the Lakes. We've just had a successful and busy Great Landscapes Festival, and there are still lots of free events in the Westmorland Dales this month.

In our guest video blog this week, our Land Manager Jan Darrall talks to us about our work at High Borrowdale.

Following the incredible heatwave this week, water has been much in the news, including drought measures and water quality. Matt Staniek's petition campaigning about pollution in Windermere surpassed 150,000 signatures this week, and we have a feature about it in our Member's magazine, out next month.

In other news, we're supporting the Lake District National Park in taking action against the temporary car park at Ullock Moss, which was refused permission last year, and you can now register to make comments or speak at the Examination in Public about the A66 road upgrade.

Our volunteers working at High Borrowdale this week had an added distraction of being filmed as part of an exciting new pilot project to let you explore our land, its history and our work on-site from your own home, or phone.

And bookings are now open for our ‘What Future for the Cumbrian Uplands?’ Event on Friday 14th October at Rheged. We think it will prove to be a very interesting debate.

With our very best wishes,

Friends of the Lake District
