Welcome to our latest Postcard From the Lakes. We had a great day out with perfect weather for walking and wading across the bay for our Fundraising Morecambe Bay Walk, thanks to everyone who took part and made it such a memorable day. You can still donate to it if you have any more sponsorship money to send in, see below.

Our Grand Opening Day at our new piece of land at Dam Mire Wood in Threlkeld was a great success, with filmmaker Terry Abraham and local schoolchildren cutting the ribbon. More than 120 people attended and took part in events including yoga, oak weaving, pastel workshop and walks and talks about what people would like to see us do with the land. If you couldn't be there you can still tell what you'd like to see us do with the land, via our survey, below.

This week has seen the Government announce changed proposals for the Planning Bill in the Queen's Speech to parliament, some of which we cautiously welcome.

And there's 2 weeks to go until the Great Cumbrian Litter Pick, so if you'd like to arrange a litter pick please do register it now on our website via the link below. Can we do as well as last year when 75 litter picking groups covered a distance of 311km across Cumbria, gathering over 500 bags of rubbish?

With very best wishes,

Douglas Chalmers, Chief Executive
