Welcome to our latest Postcard From the Lakes as our events season gets into full swing.

We held our Grand Opening for our new woodland Dam Mire Wood at Threlkeld, our first Leaders' Landscape Training event took place with a walk and talk in Whinlatter Forest with Amira Patel about breaking barriers in the outdoors, Keele University students visited the Helm and the Westmorland Dales project held their Landscape Forum event and a Wild Play Day, among other events over the past couple of weeks.

Next week is our Morecambe Bay Fundraising Walk and there are still spaces if you'd like to join us on an adventure over the sands, which is always great fun. And our Great Cumbrian Litter Pick returns at the end of May, so if you'd like to organise a litter pick for it, do get in touch now.

And for those voting in the Cumbrian elections next week, we have created a 'Manifesto for the Landscape' to help ensure that Cumbria's landscape and environment is made a priority for the new Unitary authorities. Do talk to any candidates you see about it and your local environmental concerns.

With very best wishes,

Douglas Chalmers, Chief Executive
