Welcome to our April Postcard from the Lake District. It begins with our Elterwater protest rally, which made plenty of print, TV and radio news headlines. Thank you to all members, supporters, and trustees who turned up, and helped us achieve our aim of keeping this inappropriate development proposal on the agenda. Watch our video of the event below.

Thank you also to our amazing volunteers, who have been busy recycling tree tubes at Gillside and Rusland woods, and taking part in our Great Cumbrian Litter Pick. This brought many people and groups together to clear up their communities over two days in March. Send us your photos – we love to see you in action!

And if you’d like to learn some new skills, you can sign up for our next Volunteer Specialist training in Woodland Archeology at the end of the month. Our brilliant events team are also planning a Sensory Drawing workshop on the Helm in April, and our annual Dry Stone Walling competition. Check the links below to sign up. Happy reading!

With our very best wishes,

Michael Hill, CEO
Friends of the Lake District
