Thanks to National Lottery players, we have been able to begin the planning phase of our project which aims to unlock and reveal the hidden heritage of the Westmorland Dales, enabling more people to connect with, enjoy and benefit from this inspirational landscape. Home Project overview Volunteering News Events Grants Contacts Westmorland Dales Landscape Forum Led by landscape charity Friends of the Lake District, the ‘Westmorland Dales Landscape Partnership Scheme’, funded by Heritage Lottery, has been created to unlock and reveal the rich heritage of the Westmorland Dales area and enable more people to connect with, enjoy and benefit from its inspirational landscape. Anyone with an interest in the area is invited to attend the Westmorland Dales Landscape Forum on Saturday 21st April at Orton Market Hall. It’s an opportunity to find out more about the scheme, its different projects and what its preliminary studies have revealed including the geology of the Potts Valley, the archaeology of Great Kinmond, and the landmarks of Pendragon Castle and Smardale’s Lime Kilns. A light lunch will also be provided as well the option to join an afternoon heritage walk around Orton.
