Last week we were blessed with glorious weather as we celebrated the schemes achievements at Shap Wells. As the scheme draws to a close it was such a great opportunity to bring people together and to share the story of our changing landscape.

Presentations from our wonderful key note speakers and our panel of experts highlighted our changing landscape from the carboniferous era, ice ages, the neolithic and medieval period through to the industrial revolution and our current day achievements.

Many thanks to everyone who was able to attend the event and for your contributions to make the day such a success. We would also like to thank those of you who could not attend but have taken part in this scheme one way or another. We haven’t completed all the projects yet and we will have more figures to pull together but we would like to share a few headline figures.

These headline figures are provisional as of August 2023. They need some refinement as we are still delivering! However, they do give a good indication of the scale and nature of activity across our 22 projects.

The event was well attended by 120 people and many people stayed for the afternoon walks and classic coach tour! With a nod to the classic coach- a snails pace is how we should all travel through this gorgeous landscape!
