There is a wealth of research which proves spending time in nature is beneficial to our physical, mental and spiritual health.

Thanks to generous donations from our membership and supporters, we have been able to create a range of free activities running throughout 2023 targeted at key workers with the aim of reconnecting them with the landscape and providing the skills to use nature as a therapeutic tool for years to come.

Activities have been organised across the county including a Blencathra summit challenge walk, wildlife watching, conservation days, picnics, forest bathing, drawing and craft workshops and even a stroll leading your own Alpaca.

Kay Andrews, Landscape Engagement Officer said:

“We want this project to be inclusive, attractive and accessible, so that we can deliver more benefits to more people. Events will include short morning, afternoon and evening activities as well as full day events to work around work, family and other commitments more easily.”

The events will be hosted across Cumbria at various Friends of the Lake District properties, delivered in partnership with other organisations and businesses in the county.

The Spring and Summer series of events are available to book via the link below with places open to all key workers. A definition of qualifying roles is also available at the link.
