Westmorland Dales Landscape PartnershipThe Westmorland Dales Landscape Partnership project has been supported by a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund. Thanks to National Lottery players, we have been able to begin the planning phase of our project which aims to unlock and reveal the hidden heritage of the Westmorland Dales, enabling more people to connect with, enjoy and benefit from this inspirational landscape. Home Project overview Volunteering News Grants Contacts Kirkby Stephen Grammar School Voices We recently worked with Post 16 students from Kirkby Stephen Grammar School who take part in the Yorkshire Dales National Parks Young Rangers Scheme. The short session was all about their thoughts and feelings about the landscape character of the Westmorland Dales, its limestone geology, the traditional buildings and natural heritage and farmed landscape. At the end of the session they were persuaded that their opinions matter and are valuable. Without any prompts they nervously passed a phone around the room and we recorded their voices. Their fabulous comments reflect well educated, conscientious and thoughtful young people interested in the future of the Westmorland Dales. Enjoy!
