For many of us, the majestic Lake District fells are what makes this area so special. Whether you enjoy walking, climbing, fell running or simply stopping to take in the incredible scale of the scenery, the fells have a magic appeal. Despite their appearance, our fells are actually incredibly fragile. Friends of the Lake District run a number of projects each year, aimed at protecting these impressive landscapes so many more generations of people can enjoy them.
Our Leaders' Landscape Training Sessions are aimed at outdoor practitioners to help deepen their understanding of Cumbria’s landscapes and enable them to pass on their knowledge to those with whom they work. Read more

Fell Care Days are mass-volunteering practical conservation and learning events which bring together local communities, schools and volunteers from many different walks of life. They focus on reconnecting people with the landscape by raising awareness of the immense value of our uplands. Read more
