We can fund projects which:

  • Improve, restore or enhance the landscape, natural or cultural heritage of the area
  • Research, interpret, celebrate or raise awareness of its landscape and heritage
  • Improve opportunities for people to connect with the landscape, access and enjoy the area, especially for those who may not otherwise have the opportunity to do so
  • Improve health and wellbeing in the outdoors.
  • Promote participation and training in traditional rural skills
  • Involve the local community and/or volunteers 

Projects may include:

  • Access – footpath enhancement, new links, development of walks or interpretation
  • Town and village greens – management plans, restoration, new features e.g. seats, bulbs
  • Local heritage features – bridges, milestones, sheepfolds, wash-folds, cast iron signposts
  • Archaeology – including surveys, research, restoration
  • Walls, hedges, flora and fauna – surveys, restoration, enhancement
  • Local histories, place and field names, folklore, etc.
  • New events, additions to existing events and/or celebrations focusing on landscape, flora and fauna, land management, cultural heritage
  • School and educational activities
  • Local food initiatives
  • Interpretation of local heritage – leaflets, websites, art projects, etc.
