We will not fund:

  • Individual applicants.
  • Works on private land where there is no public access or benefit
  • Retrospective works
  • Ongoing maintenance e.g. grass cutting
  • Village halls or other community buildings unless there is a clear heritage benefit
  • Applicants who have a bad track record
  • Grants for land purchase
  • Modern signposts or other infrastructure
  • Formal children’s playgrounds and equipment
  • Grants for a repeat project or event
  • Projects which conflict with the policy principles of key partner organisations including the Friends of the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority e.g. permanent fell fencing, infrastructure in the open countryside
  • Core costs such as staff time, office rent, office equipment, etc.
  • Projects already benefitting from Westmorland Dales funding or normally funded by other public sources, e.g. Countryside Stewardship, Forestry Commission grants.
  • More than one application from the same applicant in the same year
