Gifts in Wills

Gifts in Wills are a critical source of funding to help care for the Lake District. Legacies enable us to carry out vital conservation work on our fells, comment on planning applications that will have a significant impact on the landscapes of the Lake District and campaign on issues of importance to Cumbria. 

How is your money used?

Every gift we receive helps us ensure that the landscapes of the Lake District can be protected and enhanced.

Legacy income in the last few years in particular has enabled:

• the creation of more native woodlands in Cumbria.
• volunteering and educational events which inspire hundreds of people each year to look after our fragile landscape.
• fighting off inappropriate developments, such as the proposal for zipwires in Glenridding and Thirlmere.
• review and comment on planning applications on landscape issues, development proposals and land use policy.
• the launch of work to ensure the protection and recognition of our nocturnal skies through Dark Skies Reserve accreditation.
