Little Asby Common, near Orton, is rich in terms of its nature and archaeology, but what about the other things that make it special? The views, the skills of the dry stone wallers, the stockmanship of the commoners, and the sense of community in the area?

These factors are rarely given a value. As owners of Little Asby Common, we are carrying out ground breaking research to truly understand the value of the common, located in the heart of the Westmorland Dales.

We want your views on what is special and important to you about the common. This information will help us to ensure that the things people value are protected in the future.

We'll be publishing an online survey and hosting the following drop in events in the area:

  • Great Asby Village Hall, 3pm -6pm on Wednesday 8th February
  • Orton Market Hall (small room) 6.30pm – 8pm on Wednesday 8th February
  • We are also hoping to attend Orton Farmers Market on Saturday 11th February

More details will be available nearer the time, but do save the dates, look out for the survey and attend one on the drop in sessions if you can. If you would like more information, please email [email protected]
