Welcome to our July Postcard, which begins with a plea to help us save Roanhead, the coastline between Barrow and Askam in Furness which is threatened with a 450 lodge holiday resort. Plans have now been officially submitted and validated by the council, so you have until 23rd July to submit responses to it. Join us at our Make a Stand on the Sand event on Tuesday at Roanhead, to highlight the threat this development poses to a much loved coastline.

If you can't make our Tuesday event, you can still submit a response to the planning authority. Read our How to Guide here.

Thank you to everyone that came to our AGM and Open Day in Orton today, showcasing some of the amazing work of our Westmorland Dales project, now in its final year. There are still lots of events in the Westmorland Dales to look forward to this summer.

Last Saturday was National Hay Meadows day, and our meadows didn't disappoint. See below for more spectacular images of them, and now is the time to visit to see them at their finest. Our Nurtured by Nature and Landscape Leaders events continue through the summer, and August sees our Great Landscapes Festival which includes a Night Under The Stars event. Come and camp outside at Mike's Wood where we'll have activities to enjoy the stars and night woodland wildlife. Or you could do a sleep out in your garden wherever you are.

With our very best wishes,
Michael Hill
