Land Manager's Diary: Read it here>

If you fancy a trip to any one of our properties, you are very welcome. What we would love is if you took some pictures and shared them with us. Tell us what you enjoyed, what you think of the land, or any creative ideas you have for what we can do in future. Send our land manager Jan an email. We'd love to hear from you. [email protected]

Friends of the Lake District has land right across Cumbria. This now amounts to just over 600ha or 1483 acres in old money. Our land is really diverse, in location – from Threlkeld in the north to Kendal in the south, Broughton in Furness in the West, to Little Asby in the East.

It is diverse in habitat type – woodland, farmland, upland heath and heather moorland, limestone pavement and grassland, upland marl tarn, and riverside; and also diverse in size, from 0.7ha to 464ha. But one thing that unifies it all is that we allow open access on foot for everyone, not just Friends of the Lake District members, but anyone who wishes to visit.
