We were delighted to receive a cheque for £7,000 today at our High Borrowdale property, generously donated by the Olive Tree Brasserie, a chain of Greek/Mediterranean style restaurants sited across the North-West.

Its customers have been invited to include a small donation of £1 on their bills to fund tree planting and plug planting on our land at High Borrowdale and this donation will help us to carry out this vital work.

Olive Tree Brasserie's Environmental Ambassador, Mary Scotford (left) presented the cheque to our Land Manager, Jan Darrall (right), joined by Olive Tree Brasserie staff and Friends of the Lake District work party volunteers at High Borrowdale.

The donation will help to fund the planting of approximately 6,000 more upland hay meadow flowers; allowing the meadows to support even more wildlife and store more carbon. It will also fund the planting of 1,000 more native trees to further increase biodiversity and carbon storage. It was great to be able to put the donation into action straight away as we spent the day planting trees with the Olive Tree Brasserie team and our regular volunteers.

A BIG thank you to everybody that joined us at High Borrowdale. It was a gloomy day but spirits were high and a good day was had by all as we began the process of putting the generosity of Olive Tree Brasserie's customers to work.

We run regular volunteer work parties. if you'd like to join us, follow the link and see what's coming up, we'd love to see you.
