We've been overwhelmed by the number of images submitted to our 2020 photography competition. This year’s event has received a submission of 400 images featuring stunning images of Lake District and Cumbria sent in by members of the public hoping to feature in our 2020 Christmas card collection and 2021 calendar.

With social distancing measures in place for much of the competition period, we placed the focus for submissions on past visits to the Lake District National Park. This did not dampen the enthusiasm for the competition with the quality and number of entries matching those of previous years; perhaps serving as a welcome opportunity for entrants to revisit images evoking that sense of beauty and freedom enshrined by the Lake District but sadly denied to many over recent months.

Vanessa Rhoden, Fundraising and Marketing Manager,

“We’re delighted with the response to our competition and this year, more than ever, I think people will relish the opportunity to see these fabulous shots of the Lake District. We know that many people have been unable to visit the Lakes in recent times, so as well as commemorating our beloved National Park, we hope these photos will help people stay connected to this fantastic landscape.

“Judging was incredibly hard. Indeed, there were many, many fantastic entries so we'd like to say a huge thank you to everyone who took the time to submit their images; we’ve enjoyed seeing every one of them.

“We’ve made the winning images and many more of the wonderful scenes submitted available for viewing at this link."

Our Christmas cards and calendars - including views of Buttermere, Grisedale Pike, Derwentwater, Borrowdale and Crummock Valley - will be available to order from late September via our website. All money raised from sales will go towards work to support the Lake District and Cumbria’s world class landscapes and heritage.
