"It isn’t just the rock under my feet, the people link it together" “It isn’t just about the rock under my feet, the people there link it together.” The above quote is from one of our members, Colin Hutchison, and it really struck a chord with us this week as lockdown continues to keep us all away from the places – and the people – we love. He says: Unfortunately here we go again with the lockdowns. I spent the days before Christmas travelling from Kendal to Buttermere to Ings for a few days; loved it all including the storms. Blencathra was wicked, my god the wind! Christmas day cooking a bowl of soup at the foot of Helvellyn and I was not alone, people about, just brilliant, the best way to live. For me this lockdown is bad but never mind me, I worry about the folk in my ‘home’. I hope you all come through this and I mean all of you, I love my breakfasts in Daisies in Ambleside to my coffee in Greens in Grasmere to my chips in Keswick to my friends at Honister for another coffee, a bowl of soup in the Langdales. It isn’t just about the rock under my feet, the people there link it together. A special mention to Lynn who works in the Langdales, ‘it’s been a while since I have seen you, my parking is still rubbish’. To you all, stay safe and be there when I return, best wishes, Colin.
