“It isn’t just about the rock under my feet, the people there link it together.”

The above quote is from one of our members, Colin Hutchison, and it really struck a chord with us this week as lockdown continues to keep us all away from the places – and the people – we love. He says:

Unfortunately here we go again with the lockdowns. I spent the days before Christmas travelling from Kendal to Buttermere to Ings for a few days; loved it all including the storms. Blencathra was wicked, my god the wind! Christmas day cooking a bowl of soup at the foot of Helvellyn and I was not alone, people about, just brilliant, the best way to live. For me this lockdown is bad but never mind me, I worry about the folk in my ‘home’. I hope you all come through this and I mean all of you, I love my breakfasts in Daisies in Ambleside to my coffee in Greens in Grasmere to my chips in Keswick to my friends at Honister for another coffee, a bowl of soup in the Langdales. It isn’t just about the rock under my feet, the people there link it together. A special mention to Lynn who works in the Langdales, ‘it’s been a while since I have seen you, my parking is still rubbish’. To you all, stay safe and be there when I return,

best wishes,

Colin.
