We're asking for pictures of your favourite tree. It doesn’t have to be in the Lake District, we'll accept exotic locations as long as we see a tree and you in the picture! Without you the competition would be called 'a tree' and we don't think that's nearly as catchy.

Photo Competition

We've added a few images to kick things off and it seems that a love of trees starts earlier for some that others!

We'll be posting all of the images in our Facebook album and creating a collage of the images for publication in the Summer / Autumn 2017 edition of Conserving Lakeland. We’ll accept images until the competition closing date of 15th March 2017.

‘What's in it for me’ we hear you say?

The winner (our staff will vote for their favourite image) will receive one year's free membership to Friends of the Lake District and will also have an established native tree planted in their honour! Alternatively, if you want to give your prize to a loved one as a gift - being the generous type - we will provide you with a card containing information about the tree's location and space for a personalised message inside.

The competition is open now so why not ‘tree’t  us to a wonderful image of you and your favourite tree? There's no limit on the number of submissions. We're looking for a whole forest of entries.

To enter the competition, please download and complete a photographic competition entry form.

Entry Form

Do not fill in the form if it opens in your browser window because then the data may be lost. Instead save the blank form and open it with Acrobat Reader or Acrobat itself before filling it in. Send your completed entry form together with your image to [email protected] and title your email A Tree and Me Competition. We can accept images of up to 10mb in size. For larger images we suggest you use a service such as wetransfer.com to send images.

We'll leave the content up to you but here's a paragraph about Friends of the Lake District to provide some inspiration.

Friends of the Lake District is an independent charity and the only membership organisation dedicated to enhancing and protecting the landscape of the Lake District and Cumbria. We believe that the Lake District offers some of the most spectacular and precious landscapes in England. We take action to conserve and enhance the natural beauty of these landscapes for the benefit of visitors, local communities, wildlife and habitats.

Happy snapping. We're running the competition until 15th March 2017 to give you a chance to capture some wild and wonderful scenes.

We'll be sharing competition entries via our Facebook album 'A Tree & Me' so please remember to complete an entry form for each image that you send to us.
