Volunteer Work Party Dates 2021

We're delighted that our work parties are up and running again in 2021. We're slowly getting back to normal but we still have some restrictions on work party sizes at some of our properties. Please see individual dates for more information on restrictions and volunteer numbers. We'd encourage you to get in touch early and contact us via email if you are interested in attending any of our work party dates.

Volunteers of all skill levels are welcome to come along and join us on our work parties. Please bring warm clothes, waterproofs, gloves, a packed lunch and drinks and sun cream in summer. Please note there are no facilities on our sites, but plentiful trees and walls!

You must book to attend our work parties. Please let us know via email if you are planning to attend (Important in case details change and for cake allocation!)

Booking a Place: Email Jan Darrall: [email protected] or tel: 01539 720288 if you have any additional questions.

  • More Information: More details about meeting points, times, equipment and a guide to each of our volunteering activity types is available in our More Information Guide (pdf).
  • Additional Dates: We'll be adding additional work party dates for other properties in the autumn.
  • Locations: Where are our volunteer conservation work parties?  For locations see Our Land page

    Leave No Trace This Summer

Nobody wants to see litter blighting our special landscape. It not only spoils our views, but it is dangerous to wildlife and pollutes our waterways. Here are our top tips to make sure you leave no trace...

4th August 2022: Drystone Wall Survey in Asby Parish

A slight departure today as we thought we'd share some fascinating survey work being carried out by the Westmorland Dales Scheme team in Asby Parish to put the areas drystone walls into a historical context and demonstrate how they reflect past land management.

We received the disappointing news that the Secretary of State will not ‘call in’ the proposed zip-wires at Honister and so the Authority’s approval stands. The Secretary of State is no longer required to give reasons for his decision.
