A “Board It Bin It” litter pick by stand up paddle board on Windermere is just one of almost 40 litter picks across Cumbria already registered to take part in The Great Cumbrian Litter Pick on Friday 26th and Saturday 27th April.

We're  co-ordinated this event in a bid to tackle the blight of carelessly chucked rubbish on our spectacular countryside. We're asking  every parish, school and organisation in Cumbria to get involved to make this a really high profile and well-supported day to show the rest of the UK how proud we are of our county.

Engagement Officer, Ruth Kirk said,

“We’ve held an underwater debris dive and multiple litter picks by canoe in the past to help clean up Cumbria so we are delighted to be joined by LakeSUP with their innovative mode of transport!

“For people who are happier on dry land, there’s still plenty of time to sign up to help tidy up, either by organising your own group or individual litter pick or by joining one of the public events you’ll find on our interactive Great Cumbrian Litter Pick map.

There are opportunities to combine a full day of walking and fresh air with a litter pick by joining the group heading up England’s highest mountain, Scafell Pike or more leisurely options like a stroll around Kendal Castle. Whatever you fancy, there will be opportunities for you to do your bit.”

There will be a draw with a prize of £500 each for one community and one school who takes part, to be spent on environmental improvement or enhancement in your local area or school.
