A wealth of research proves spending time in nature is beneficial to our physical, mental and spiritual health. We are very pleased to be able to start delivering our 'Nurtured by Nature' project over the next 12 months. Thanks to all who generously donated, we are providing a range of activities for members of the public and key workers to reconnect with the landscape and gain the skills to use nature as a therapeutic tool for years to come.
You don't have to be a Key Worker to book onto one of our FREE Nurtured by Nature events but priority will be given to Key Workers if an activity is oversubscribed. (Key Worker - An essential employee, an individual who works in the private or public sector in a profession that is considered to be essential to society. Full list of eligible Key Workers>)
Activities in 2023 range from fell walks, wildlife watching and conservation days carrying out tasks such as tree planting, to sound healing, yoga and bush craft workshops. We want this project to be inclusive, attractive and accessible, so that we can deliver more benefits to more people. Events will include short morning or afternoon activities as well as full day events to work around work, family and other commitments more easily. There will be both active and non-active events to suit all abilities and needs. Events will run across Cumbria at various Friends of the Lake District sites, as well as with other organisations and businesses in Cumbria.
