Join us on this unique sponsored walk across the sands of Morecambe Bay to raise money to protect Lake District landscapes.

Saturday 13th July 2024

The Morecambe Bay Walk takes you across the largest expanse of tidal mudflats and sand in the United Kingdom. This landscape is constantly moving and shifting so you will be led by the official guide Michael Wilson.

This popular event will take place on Saturday 13th July 2024 starting promptly at 10:30am from Arnside Promenade. Registration is crucial between 8:30am - 10am to confirm all details.  The walk starts the far side of Arnside Beach, opposite the Albion pub.  The walk will end at Grange-over-Sands promenade (near the old lido) at approximately 1:30 - 2.30pm, however timings will be dependent on the conditions and the route on the day.

The roughly 7.5 mile walk is suitable for anyone who is comfortable walking over uneven terrain for 3 to 4 hours. The majority of the walk will be over sand, however you will also be required to wade through channels of water, which can be knee or even thigh-high depending on rainfall, so be prepared to get wet. Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult and well behaved dogs are welcome.

We hope you will join us this year for a sponsored walk like no other.

Your support will go towards helping our vital work protecting and enhancing some of the most spectacular and precious landscapes in England.
