Friends of the Lake District works to protect and improve some of the most spectacular countryside in the country
I joined the Friends of the Lake District in about 1990 and am fundraising to give something back for all the pleasure that the Lake District has given me over the years and because I feel that the work you do is really imporant.
We love walking in the English Countryside, John does the mountains, I do the coast, this helps us give back to support the people who preserve the beauty of that countryside
Friends of the Lake District will use the funds raised on this walk to go towards their vital work looking after native woodlands and hay meadows; running campaigns to protect the Lake District from inappropriate developments and helping people volunteer, learn skills and engage with this spectacular landscape.
Despite the Lake District's recent designation as a World Heritage Site, the area is under increasing pressure from inappropriate development that threatens to destroy the peace, tranquility and wildness that makes it such a special place. More than ever, the Lake District needs all the protection it can get.
I think the Lake District is the most beautiful place on earth. Friends of the Lake District do an amazing job conserving and protecting this spectacular place.
