Description
Dry stone walls are an important part of Cumbria’s cultural and rural heritage. These traditional boundaries are one of the things many people love about the Lake District and require a great deal of skill to create. One metre of wall requires just over a tonne of stone, and expertly built walls can last for centuries with minimal maintenance. They are sustainable and recyclable – a dry stone wall features a low carbon footprint because it uses local unquarried or dry-laid field stone that can be fully disassembled and reused. Dry stone walls also act as ecological corridors, their gaps and crevices create vital micro-habitats, shelter, and transit corridors for small mammals, amphibians, reptiles, invertebrates, and mosses.
Your dry stone wall gift goes towards the management of land in the Lake District and Cumbria to create diverse, healthy and sustainable landscapes for all of us.
You will receive a beautiful A5 size gift card and certificate for you to personalise and give to your recipient or display yourself.
