Kendal IT company announces Friends of the Lake District as Charity of the Year

IT support provider iTek has announced Friends of the Lake District as its Charity of the Year

Kendal – based IT support provider iTek has announced Friends of the Lake District as its Charity of the Year. This marks the start of a new partnership that will see employees volunteering, fundraising and supporting conservation projects across Cumbria. 

Throughout the coming year, the iTek team will take part in a range of practical conservation activities, alongside fundraising initiatives to help support our work protecting and enhancing Lake District and Cumbrian landscapes. 

For a team more accustomed to building firewalls and protecting businesses from cyber threats, hedge planting, woodland restoration, and dry stone walling provide a very different challenge. However, the team is looking forward to learning new skills while making a positive contribution to the local environment.

Claire Coburn, fundraising manager, said: “We’re incredibly grateful to iTek for choosing us as their Charity of the Year. Their commitment to supporting the Lake District, and getting hands-on through fundraising and environmental give back days, will make a real difference to our work. We’re excited to partner together and see the positive impact this brings to our landscapes and local communities.”

Born survivors

The partnership is already underway, with members of the iTek team taking on the Born Survivor obstacle course on 12 September. The challenge marks the first fundraising event of the partnership, with all money raised helping to support our ongoing conservation and community work.
