This year’s competition has now closed. Thank you to everyone who submitted entries. We will be announcing the winners at the end of July.
Terms and Conditions
Closing date is midnight 30 June 2026.
- Photograph files must be named in the following format: “fullname location monthtaken” e.g. ‘Johnsmith Catbells March’. If you do not know the exact month please estimate.
- Winners must be able to provide a high resolution copy of the original image for use in print.
- You will retain all rights to any photograph you submit and it is the responsibility of each entrant to ensure that any images they submit have been taken with the permission of the subject and do not infringe the copyright of any third party or any laws. You grant Friends of the Lake District rights (as described below) to your photograph.
- Use the photograph in our 2026/7 merchandise, the profits of which directly benefit the Cumbrian landscapes.
Use the photograph on the Internet in support of our mission. - Use the photograph in Friends of the Lake District non-commercial communications.
Provide your photograph to other individuals and organisations for non-commercial use, Friends of the Lake District-related use in news stories, newsletters, reports, slide shows, displays, web pages, and the like. - Keep the files provided, and to archive the images in electronic forms, so that your photos can be used to support our mission and be properly credited. Each entrant in the Contest is responsible for ensuring that he or she has the right to submit the photos that he or she submits to the Contest per these rules.
Additional Information
- The competition is open to everyone.
- Each winner will receive a complementary set of Christmas cards and 2027 calendar and given full photography credits on their winning image on the back of cards or underneath calendar images.
- Winning images will be selected by Friends of the Lake District staff.
- Winners will be announced in July 2026 and will be contacted by the email address used to enter.
