Sedbergh & Howgills Fell Care Day

Thursday 12 November. 9am to 3.30pm.

We are working in partnership with local organisations to host our next annual Fell Care Day in the Howgills, based out of Sedbergh.

Fell Care Days are mass-volunteer conservation and learning events giving you the chance to get your hands dirty doing a range of important tasks to help look after and improve the landscape.

The days are filled with a sense of shared purpose, fun, camaraderie and most importantly, lots of cake to help fuel everyone through their tasks!

More information about the 2026 Fell Care Day

On the day itself, please come to our Fell Care Day hub at Sedbergh People’s Hall for 9am.

There is limited parking at the hall, so if it is full on arrival please leave time to park in one of Sedbergh’s main carparks nearby.

When you arrive at the hub, you will be able to sign up to a task from a variety of options, all within the vicinity of Sedbergh or the Howgills. The tasks will include tree planting, hedge planting, footpath work, litter picking and dry stone walling.

After you have signed up for the task you want to do, you’ll be placed into groups and will proceed to the exact location of the activity. Car sharing may be necessary for people to get to, and return from, these locations.

Please bring: waterproofs, warm layers, sturdy footwear (if you plan to join the dry stone walling group you’ll need steel toe capped, or very sturdy, boots). Please also bring drinks and a packed lunch.

We can supply work gloves, all tools necessary and hot drinks at the end of the day back at base with lots of cake!
