Little Asby Common Guided Walk and talk
Explore lovely Asby common and find out about common land.
Tuesday 11th August 10am-2pm
A moderate 5k walk across Little Asby Common – Friends of the Lake District and its limestone pavements.
A chance to find out more about common land and how we manage it.
Terrain: Uneven ground across tracks, rocky outcrops, and through fields.
Meeting Point: Sunbiggin tarn. 5 miles east of Orton. It can be reached via the minor road (C3070) from Raisebeck to Little Asby, or the C3074 from Newbiggin-on-Lune. Limited parking.

Note: There are no toilets or hand washing facilities at this location. However, there are public toilets near by in Orton.
This walk will be led by our land manager Dr Jan Darrall.
Tickets are free to members of Friends of the Lake District (join here if you are not already a member) or £5 for non-members.
What to wear and what to bring
Check the weather forecast. Waterproofs if it looks like rain. Sun hat and sunscreen if it looks like sun. Sturdy footwear (walking boots or similar). Sun cream just in case. Please also bring water and a packed lunch.
Dogs are permitted but must be kept under control and on a lead at all times.

Staff and volunteers will be taking photos on the day. If you do not wish to be in these please let a member of staff at the event know on the day.
We understand that the location of this event is not on any line of public transport. If you are without transport and would like to come to this event please let us know and we may be able to arrange alternate transport.
