Learn how to ID hedgerow trees and survey hedges
You will be spending the morning learning how to survey hedgerows and ID tree and plant species within the hedge. You’ll also learn the difference between a good and bad hedgerow, and their wildlife and livestock benefits.
- Location: Meet at 10 at Rigghead Farm, Kirklinton, CA6 6DR (GR: NY444668 What3words:///petted.straddled.workshops). Please use the what3words address to get directions as the postcode isn’t always accurate. Limited parking, please carshare if possible. A staff member will be on-site to show you where to park.
- Time: 10am – 1pm
- Activity suitability: 10+
- Activity grade: Easy. We will be walking around the farm looking at the hedges. There may be some wet/muddy/uneven terrain but it’s mostly quite flat.
- Please wear: Outdoor shoes (walking boots or wellies please) and a waterproof in case it rains.
- Please bring: Packed lunch, water bottle, pen and notebook (if you want to take notes).
- Toilet & hand washing facilities: There is a toilet on-site at the farm.
