The campaign encourages people to know what to do to protect themselves and their property in a flood and urges people to:

These important steps will help those at risk of flooding to ‘Prepare, Act and Survive’. If you receive a flood warning and haven’t already done so already, you should:

  • Keep up to date with the latest situation – call Floodline on 0345 988 1188 or follow @EnvAgency and #FloodAware on Twitter for the latest flood updates.
  • Have a bag ready with vital items like insurance documents and medications in case you need to leave your home.
  • Check you know how to turn off your gas, electricity and water mains supplies.
  • Plan how you’ll move your car, family and pets to safety.

Get prepared now to save months of misery and thousands of pounds of damage. There are 5.2 million homes at risk of flooding in England. Join the millions of people who have already taken simple steps to ‘Prepare, Act and Survive’.

Flooding isn’t just an inconvenience, it is a killer. With your help we can really turn up the volume of the Environment Agencies Flood Action Campaign and make our voices heard when it matters most.
