Policy Officer vacancy (protected landscapes, access, recreation and woodlands)

Part-time (28 hours per week) and based at our Kendal Office at Murley Moss, Oxenholme Road.
Flexible working with remote based options available.
Starting Salary: £30,908 per annum pro rata (£38,636 FTE)

visitors, local communities, and nature and you could play a key part in doing that.

About the role
The Policy Officer is a senior role within the organisation and will work as part of the Policy Team in
delivering Friends of the Lake District’s charitable objects and achieving the policy, campaign, and
project priorities in our Strategic Direction. Key areas of responsibility:

- Co-ordinate our work on protected landscapes, woodlands and forestry and access and
recreation.
- Represent Friends of the Lake District on the Lake District National Park Partnership and other
partnerships.
- Manage and develop projects and campaigns related to the work areas listed above and others
as required.
- Contribute to communications and advocacy.
- Contribute to organisational development.

Skills / experience required:
- An experienced policy officer or similar, with a good knowledge of protected landscapes,
woodlands and forestry and access and recreation.
- You will be able to lead and coordinate work on policy related projects and campaigns.
- You will be able to present and communicate complex information clearly to a diverse range of
audiences in an accessible and persuasive way.
- You will be confident and capable of being a public media face for Friends of the Lake District.
- You will have the ability to network and develop partnerships and to advocate for the
environment of Cumbria and the Lake District.
