Home About the Scheme Scheme Projects News Events Grants Get Involved Contacts Handing on Skills for the Future We are currently in the process of selecting four countryside worker apprentices to join Belinda Lloyd, apprentice supervisor, recently appointed by the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority. This opportunity has been created as part of the Westmorland Dales Landscape Partnership Scheme, grant funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund. The 18 month apprenticeships will be based with the team at Tebay. Apprentices will learn countryside skills and put them to use on a variety of access and conservation projects within the Westmorland Dales, linking with partners and parishes to reveal, conserve and celebrate the hidden heritage of the area. Belinda started her own career in conservation as an apprentice with the National Trust in Devon. She moved to Cumbria 14 years ago to manage reserves for Cumbria Wildlife Trust and since then has worked for the Lake District National Park Authority and the RSPB. Belinda said, “I’ve been stunned at the diverse habitats, range of wildlife and historical gems within the Westmorland Dales and I am thoroughly looking forward to working in this amazing landscape. “As part of the landscape partnership scheme I’m delighted to have this opportunity to hand on my skills to four budding Rangers and to ensure that their apprenticeship is as educational and enjoyable as my own". The deadline for applications is now closed. Interviews take place in late July. Four applicants will be selected to begin an 18 month apprenticeship beginning in September 2019.
