  • Houseboats Off Grasmere
We learned on Wednesday 22nd January that plans to build holiday boats on Grasmere have been scrapped following this brilliant local campaign supported by Friends of the Lake District. This high profile local campaign has proved that by raising the profile of issues within the Lake District and mobilising the support of all those who want to see the landscape, natural beauty, wildlife and cultural heritage respected, sustained and regenerated, we will affect change and Save Our Lake District.
  • Meeting with the Lake District National Park Authority (LDNPA)
Our Chief Executive, Douglas Chalmers met with LDNPA Chief Executive Richard Leafe to clarify our concerns, explain why we had launched this Campaign now, and to notify him of the other organisations and communities who are involved and supporting us.
  • Meeting with the Lake District National Park Partnership
Our Chief Executive, Douglas Chalmers met Chairman Stephen Henwood to outline our reasons for launching this Campaign now, and what we and our supporters wanted to achieve.
  • Meeting with the Lake District National Park Authority (LDNPA)
Our Chairperson, John Campbell, met Mike McKinley, Chair of the LDNPA, to brief him on our Campaign.
