Lord Inglewood (Richard Vane) has been a member of Friends of the Lake District for over 30 years and was the President between 2012 and 2013. He is a Member of the House of Lords and a farmer, landowner and businessman in Cumbria. He is Chairman of the CN Group, President of Cumbria Tourism, President of The British Art Market Federation, Chairman of the Cumbria Local Nature Partnership since 2013, President of The Uplands Alliance, and a Member of the Advisory Board Reuters’ Institute Oxford University. Between 1989-1994 and 1999-2004 he was a Member of the European Parliament, first for Cumbria and Lancashire North and then one of the Members for NW England. In 1999 he was elected one of the hereditary peers to remain in the House of Lords.
