Description: A lovely walk from the head of Coniston Water through the Yewdale of Beatrix Potter. An ascent of Tom Gill with ancient woodland and waterfall up to Tarn Hows and returning via the Monk Coniston Estate.

Length of time and distance: 5.5 hours, 8.7km/5.6miles, ascent 292m/950ft

Grade: Moderate. Reasonable level of fitness required

Terrain: Good paths with a stony ascent of Tom Gill. Boots or approach shoes. Walking equipment, waterproofs, packed lunch, water. Dogs on leads.

14+ accompanied by an adult

£3 to members and £5 per person for non-members.
