Great Asby Guided Walk

Wednesday 22nd April, 2026

Explore Great Asby with us

Wednesday 22 April 2pm – 4pm

A short circular 2-mile walk from Great Asby following Asby Gill upstream, with Asby Beck intermittently disappearing into the limestone, past Pate Hole Mouth to the prehistoric settlement of Holborn Hill. Then back across the fields to Great Asby with its distinctive settlement and fields patterns, a relic of its medieval history.

This walk will be led by David Evans.

Tickets are free to members of Friends of the Lake District (join here if you are not already a member) or £5 for non-members.

More details about the walk will be sent via email when you book but if you have any questions in advance please email events@fld.org.uk.

About these walks

This is one of a series of walks revealing the landscape and heritage of the Westmorland Dales, in the northwest corner of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. The area was the focus of a landscape partnership scheme which ran from 2019 to 2024, grant funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund and led by Friends of the Lake District.
