Welcome to our latest Postcard From the Lakes.

We're highlighting lots of events and free activities in this edition giving people the opportunity to enjoy and benefit from the special landscapes of Cumbria.

We have submitted a written response to Government proposals made following the independent review of England’s National Parks and AONBs, led by Julian Glover. We raise the need for cheap, reliable public transport, affordable housing and a landscape accessible by all.

We have authored a 'Manifesto for the Landscape' to help ensure that the landscape and environment of Cumbria is made a priority of new Unitary authorities.

And as we march through April we near the Grand Opening of Dam Mire Wood in Threlkeld on Friday 29th where we have a busy schedule of free activities lined up in celebration of the opening.

With very best wishes,

Douglas Chalmers, Chief Executive
