Would you like to be part of a team delivering an exciting programme of heritage projects in the Westmorland Dales?  Do you have the range of administration and financial skills and experience necessary to support the work of this team?

The Westmorland Dales is a beautiful area of Cumbria lying within the Yorkshire Dales National Park. It is characterised by sweeping views, limestone scars and pavements, species-rich meadows and verges, and a rich cultural history dating back to pre-historic times. A £2.27m grant has now been secured from the National Lottery Heritage Fund to deliver the 4-year Westmorland Dales Landscape Partnership Scheme, for which Friends of the Lake District is the lead partner.  We are recruiting three new posts to the team which will coordinate the Scheme and deliver many of its projects.

The Administration and Finance Officer will play a key role working with the team and its partners, including staff within Friends of the Lake District, the lead partner, and the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority, the accountable body.  The work will be wide-ranging. It will include help with submitting quarterly reports, recording expenditure and income, monitoring outputs and updating  contacts, providing support to the apprentice team, and ensuring that office and workshop facilities operate smoothly. There may also be the opportunity to help with events and other activities.

We are ideally looking for someone with a relevant financial or business qualification or qualified by experience.  Experience of a wide range of financial duties is essential including book-keeping and financial matters, experience of using Excel spreadsheets and preferably a computerised financial system.  You will also need experience of a variety of other administrative duties and be well organised with the ability to work on your own initiative, have well developed written and verbal communication skills and be flexible, including the ability to work occasional evenings and weekends..

The post is for a four-year period to the end of April 2023. It is likely to be based in Tebay within the scheme area.
