Now that the deadline for submitting comments to the planning authority has passed, we would like to take the opportunity to thank each and every one of you who took the time to write to us with a copy of your objections to the 'Thirlmere Activity Hub' planning application, and to those of you that sent us such wonderful images (and paintings) of the Thirlmere valley.

Painting: 'Pine and fog at Thirlmere' by Fay Collins

The response has been overwhelming and we apologise that we’ve not been able to respond to everyone individually. It has been a truly enlightening and humbling experience to read your personal experiences of Thirlmere and what it means to you all.

Responses have been from young and old, local, national and from overseas but all share a common heartfelt appreciation of the Thirlmere Valley and the desire to protect it from inappropriate development.

We hope that these objections will have as great an impact on the decision makers at the Lake District National Park Authority as they have had on us.

Please remember to keep an eye on the website for updates regarding the application’s progression to the development control committee.

National Park announces date for the application to be heard, and publishes figures for responses to consultation. Read more.
