Friends of the Lake District and the Rheged Centre are proud to present ‘The Making of BBC Planet Earth II’ on Saturday 25 February at 2pm. Tickets are £10 for adults, £6 for children and the film has a PG rating. There will be time at the end to quiz Emma about her role in this momentous production.

Join BBC Natural History Assistant Producer Emma Brennand for an exclusive glimpse behind the scenes of the ‘Mountains’ and ‘Islands’ episodes of David Attenborough’s Planet Earth II.

Four years in the making, with 25 expedition shoots to the world’s greatest wildernesses, she has plenty of stories to share; from how to track Nubian Ibex in the mountains of Israel, to revealing the secret life of the Buller’s Albatross on a tiny Sub-Antarctic island in the middle of the Southern Ocean.

Douglas Chalmers, Chief Executive at Friends of the Lake District said, “We were all enthralled by the Planet Earth II at the end of last year, not just by the animals themselves, but also by how the programmes were made, so I’m delighted that Emma has agreed to support Friends of the Lake District by giving this talk. The series reminded us just what an amazing planet we live on and how important it is to protect its fragile landscapes.”

Footage from Planet Earth II will be screened on Rheged’s huge screen, which is one of the biggest cinema screens to the north of Manchester. Rheged are delighted to be hosting ‘The Making of BBC Planet Earth II’ as part of a programme that continues to celebrate the great outdoors and the natural world we live in. The Rheged Centre is located just off the M6 (Junction 40) in Penrith, Cumbria.
