Update 4 December:

Life of a Mountain Auction to Leave a Lasting Legacy
We'd like to say a big thank you on behalf of ourselves and the Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team to all of you who participated in our online auction event which ran throughout November. We must also thank Terry Abraham for supporting the auction, donating auction lots and allowing us to promote it alongside his 'Life of a  Mountain Helvellyn' Film Launch in November.

We're busy confirming the winning bids on the auction lots and will update you on the total raised as soon as we do. All monies raised will be shared between Friends of the Lake District and Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team.

Friends of the Lake District and Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team, two established Lake District charities, will share the funds raised in an online auction which has been generously supported and promoted by Terry Abraham, following the online launch of his latest film ‘Life of a Mountain Helvellyn’.

Running throughout November, the ‘Life of a Mountain’ auction is inviting online bids from the public on a number of unique lots donated to the cause. This week, Friends of the Lake District has added its own lot and the opportunity to leave a lasting legacy in the Lake District.

Bidders now have the chance to fund the planting of a landscape tree in Mike’s Wood overlooking the village of Staveley in the Lake District National Park; just one of a number of woods owned and managed by the landscape charity.

The tree will be protected from grazing with its own fence and will grow to become a significant part of the Lake District landscape for generations.

Andrew Tait, property manager at Mike’s Wood said:

“When you fund the planting of a mature tree, you help wildlife flourish by providing a new habitat, protect soils from erosion and provide succession trees. You can also nominate a gift recipient who will receive a personalised card and certificate. This is one of those gifts that is definitely not just for Christmas, but for a lifetime and many more generations to come.”

The online auction runs throughout November and is inviting bids of a number of lots including an exclusive VIP tour of the Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team’s base, signed film posters, a weekend break at Sunnyside Guest House in Keswick and two of the latest Vango tents.

The highest bids will be selected at the end of November for each lot item with all proceeds being split between Friends of the Lake District and Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team.
