We are very proud of our work in supporting access for all and encouraging young people to discover, explore and enjoy the outdoors. We’ve listed a small selection of our grant awards – we’ve awarded well over £1 million in grants to date – which help to illustrate our commitment to providing access for all to our wonderful landscapes and a little encouragement for young people to discover and explore more.

In addition we’re proud to be a partner of Fix the Fells. We run regular events for the public on our own properties such as Little Asby and High Borrowdale where the public have full access to roam and discover. We’ve enjoyed showing off our upland hay meadows created at Little Asby, promoting biodiversity. We give guided walks and talks about the geology and history at our Little Asby Common property. We host annual drystone walling and hedging competitions to support rural skills.

We never forget that this landscape is for everybody. Friends of the Lake District, together with members and supporters work hard to ensure that everybody can experience the breath taking views, breathless climbs and majesty of the landscapes of Cumbria and the Lake District.
