In this edition:

Sadly since we last wrote, Storm Arwen has ravaged Cumbria, and other parts of the UK of course, bringing down many trees, not to mention powerlines. You can read our policy officer Kate's view below on why so many trees fell victim to this particular storm, and listen to a talk by Cumbria Woodlands on what's next for Cumbria's trees. And all this the same week that a Forest Research report has quantified the staggering health benefits of walking in woodlands and nature.

We were also pleased that the Lake District National Park has refused plans for a permanent car park at Ullock Moss, and hope that the decision will inspire new sustainable and integrated travel options for visitors and residents.

Elsewhere in this edition you can watch some very speedy volunteer wallers, and hear about a river restoration and natural flood management project being undertaken by Eden Rivers Trust as part of our Westmorland Dales Landscape Partnership Scheme.
