A Landscape for all Seasons Pictured above: 2019 Calendar featured image for October: Levens Park submitted by Bill Patten We have been overwhelmed by the number of images submitted to our 2018 photography competition with our annual event going from strength to strength. This year’s competition has broken previous records with over 600 images of the Lake District submitted by entrants hoping to feature in our 2019 calendar and Christmas card collection. Shortlisted by staff and members attending our AGM, 12 winning images now take pride of place in our 2019 calendar with a further 5 wintry scenes featured on this year’s Christmas cards. Pictured: 2019 calendar featured image for December: Red squirrel and birch submitted by Rosamund Macfarlane Rachel Dorrington, Fundraising Officer, People are keener than ever to share their images of the Lake District. Cameras are certainly more ubiquitous now of course but it’s not just the number of entries but the quality and range of subjects that has impressed us this year. The Lake District itself is clearly one of the most photographed landscapes in the UK but the popularity of our competition, the entrants’ knowledge and their love of the unique Lake District landscape means that we’re always able to find a new view and unique perspective capturing the essence of the changing seasons within the Lake District. Calendar images include views over Ullswater, Crummock, Levens Park, Great Gable, Haystacks, Jeffy Wood and a snow dusted red squirrel.
