A short film of our Big Switch Off event in Ambleside and Grasmere - to save energy and see more stars. Residents and businesses took part by turning off their own lights, along with over 200 street lights switched off by Cumbria County Council on the night. Read more
Short films of three local legends set in the landscape of the Westmorland Dales, retold and illustrated by local children, have just been released online. The films were premiered at a storytelling event for local families in Kirkby Stephen on Wednesday 25th January. Read more

Hound Trailing is one of Cumbria's oldest and most popular sports. Racing takes place over moorland, fields and fells, the hounds follow a trail laid down by runners grading rags soaked in a mixture of paraffin and oil of aniseed. Read more
The Frog Whitton Round is a classic cycling and swimming challenge set in the Lake District. Only one athlete has managed to complete the round since its creation in 2019. It consists of 154km of cycling, over 3000m of ascent and 10km of swimming. Read more
