Westmorland Dales Landscape PartnershipThe Westmorland Dales Landscape Partnership project has been supported by a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund. Thanks to National Lottery players, we have been able to begin the planning phase of our project which aims to unlock and reveal the hidden heritage of the Westmorland Dales, enabling more people to connect with, enjoy and benefit from this inspirational landscape. Its natural and cultural heritage boasts some stunning geology, archaeology, meadows, villages, drystone walls and other landscape features. The forum will give you the chance to find out more about the area’s rich heritage and what our preliminary studies have revealed including the geology of the Potts Valley, the archaeology of Great Kinmond, and the landmarks of Pendragon Castle and Smardale’s Lime Kilns. Morning Talks and Presentations 10:00 am start – 12:30 pm finish (doors open 9.30 am) Lunch 12:30 – 1:30pm Afternoon Heritage Walks and Archaeological Test Pitting From 1:30 pm around Orton Booking isn’t essential but please let us know if you are planning to come along; it will help with plans for lunch and other activities.
